Beginnings of my Dark Folklore Project...
To those who aren't over at my Patreon, I've been talking about this project for a few years now, but I feel it's time to talk about it publicly while I take a break from my original comic, Fabula: Sister of the Dark.
I've been hunting down some unknown and known scary stories, campfire tales, folklore, and some weird true events: gathering them up into a graphic novel for people to read through. I've been working on this project for a while now, on and off, but so far I've been sourcing and finding books and online webpages of the various stories I want to adapt into comic book form. I'm almost done on that part, and soon I'll be writing out the scripts for these stories so I can begin work on the actual comic.
A Lonely Night and Fabula presents: Dunderbeck's Mean Machine was practice for that, as I took a couple of stories someone told me years ago, and retold them through comic format as practice (A similar story can be found in the book Scary Stories 3: More Tales to Chill your Bones and in More Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark- both by Alvin Schwartz). If you liked the comics, and are interested, then do let me know, and head over to my Patreon or Ko-Fi page for more support.
If you have any other campfire, jump tale, or just plain scary story you've been told, please do share it down below. I'll consider it for the graphic novel as I'm still looking for stories to work on. Some good ones too, and the more unheard of or unknown they are, the better. Also if you know of any more books that may have some good stories in it. So far everything is based in the Americas at the moment, but won't mind drawing up stories from other parts of the world if you are from there, and would like to see something adapted (even if it's a local legend that's on the brink of extinction).
That's it from me. I'll let you know when I've started work on it, as I will be previewing things over on my pages and here as well. Take care, and have a good day.
